Tony's Seminar Approach
My approach to seminars is very conceptual. I will not simply show a set of moves and have you drill them for a few hours - that's not very helpful. I believe seminar attendees should gain a better conceptual understanding of a position or series of techniques. If they don't understand the topic at a conceptual level, they are very unlikely to be able to integrate what is taught into their game.
The goal of my seminars is to increase the fundamental understanding of the techniques and positions we cover. In order to achieve my goal, I thoroughly explain topics, ask questions of the attendees, provide examples, and finally show how the concept works with real techniques. This teaching style is designed to engage the attendees' minds and make them active participants in the experience. It's also designed to be effective with multiple types of learning styles.
